Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
I had the ability to set the keyboard and capacitive buttons to time out the same time as the screen with gingerbread. Now that I've updated to CM9 the screen turns off after a minute but the keyboard/capacitive buttons turn off after a few seconds. I know this saves some battery life and I should adapt to it but if I want to keep it the style it was in Gingerbread, how do I do it?

Try DL'ing your theme direct from the CM9/AOKP Theme thread (link is several posts up), then install to system using your file manager, + then load it using the Theme chooser from settings; DL from Play Store should install, then you'd only have to load theme fr Theme chooser.......the Play Store is not quite stocked yet, but it's getting there!

I know the Shadow kernel is supposed to be updated now that beta 3 has been released but does anyone know if the last updated version of Shadow will work as well?

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
The most recent version of ShadowKernel, v.0.6.1 (3/20/12), came before beta3-pre3, so it's not recommended for beta3 (shadowKernel version for B3, not here yet).............recently Bbelos (author of Shadow) has been gaining ground while working on getting the Epic 4G 3.0.x kernel off the ground; here's the update:
.....it may be worth waiting for the test version of this: no ETA's, but coming soon, as evidenced by the link-holder on the progress report

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
As not everyone running CM9 is also using Google Voice, + as it has been asked with some frequency over the course of time on this thread, I am pleased to be taking a moment to mention that the recently posted Sprint Visual Voice-mail zip for Android 4.0.4 / ICS is available for DL over at the AOKP Epic4G Blogspot .......... this newer version of Sprint VVM works perfectly fine w/ CM9beta3: been running it since this past Saturday w/ no hiccups whatsoever + just know that this will be a handy fix for those that prefer an alternative to GV.
Please remember to Thank Alias8818 (Epic CM Team) for providing the DL link on his AOKP Epic 4G Blogspot!

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
I have tried it both ways. The message sent with and without text, I get the same result. Could it be a setting or is there an app or software that is not present that I can download? This is the only issue I have found. CM9 has hands down een the best and most stable ROM I have used. I just have to get this issue worked out and I will be golden!!! Thanks for the help.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
I posted it on the G+ page, but thought I'd share here as well. I'm getting horrible battery life with Beta 3. I'm on the latest rom and can literally watch the battery percentage drop. I unplugged my phone a little over an hour ago from charging all night, haven't used it, and battery life is at 93% now. No way I can live with this. My phone needs to stay on a charger all the time. I was browsing the internet for about 30 minutes yesterday and took my phone from 100% to 23% while using WiFi.
Are there any kernels for this to get some better battery life? - 05-18-2012, 10:57 AM #345
I concur about the battery life. I didn't spend much time on beta2 but coming from gingerbread my battery life on beta3 has been lousy at best.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
Hmmm, my battery's same as it ever was, no better no worse, since flashing CM9beta3.
There are reasons, way too numerous to mention here, why battery life MAY fluctuate between ROM updates for rooted users or else between firmware changes for those running Stock..........w/ beta3 we've also seen a # of user posts claiming IMPROVED battery life; still, we always seem to find our way back to this basic question:
Q= How may we improve our battery life on CM9?
A number of users swear by it: 'Better Battery Stats,' an app available from the Store.
.......+ of course, there's this: the Battery Optimization Guide from the Epic CM blog =
Hopefully, some of this information will play well + serve to IMPROVE your specific device battery's future performance............let us know.

Are there any workarounds for emoticons? I notice the keyboard button for emoticons does nothing now.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0-BETA-2
I've noticed a couple times now when my battery has been around 50% and I choose to restart the phone (just something I like to do once in a while to refresh it) it shows a battery % much less than it was before I restarted it. For example, I went fro 52% today, to 17% when it restarted. Thursday of last week I had a similar issue. I pulled the battery for 5 mins on Thursday and let it sit for a few mins and when I put it back in and went back up again to 31%. Weird.

That can happen with any Android device on any rom. It's something that happens much more often when using a "reboot" mod. Try turning the phone off the regular way then booting it back up and see if it still happens. Plugging into a charging and rebooting will usually correct it as a quick fix when it happens, also.
You will also notice when this happens if you leave the phone in standby the % may actually rise as it attempts to correct itself, or may drain slower till it gets more around the proper % reading.
