One other thing you might consider. I have read about a reset button near the camera lens. I believe I saw it at XDA. I have never tried this but it sounds like anything is worth a try at this point.

Re: Truly bricked?
@flaredog, instead of using the EC05 tar give the Froyo EB13 a try. There has been many occasions where the EC05 tar just doesn't want to work completely and the EB13 Froyo Odin Restore works great in these situations. Then if that works which it should you would receive the OTA normally within 5-10 minutes of the first boot to update to EC05 and you can do whatever you like from there...

Re: Truly bricked?
Thank you everyone I flashed to froyo and was still seeming to have some troubles the phone would die every-time I would unplug the USB cord even though the green battery icon was showing an almost fully charged battery. Eventually and luckily my wife had an Epic and I tried her battery and my phone powered up and stayed on after USB removal. Some how the battery stats were not reading correctly so the battery was completely dead. It seems to be charging now will let it sit for a few hours to try to get a full charge. Thank you too everyone I will absolutely be looking into learning more about android and the hardware that can run it get a little bit of a dabble into modding maybe. This forum is truly great though.

Re: Odin to stock with broken screen
Yes it is... Very simple actually..
Grab procedure #1 (Froyo EC05) from the link below and follow the instructions.
[How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)
All you will need to do is pull your battery to make sure your device is off.
Then load up Odin on your computer.
Next place your device in download mode (Hold down 1 on the physical keyboard and press power) for about a good 5-10 seconds... Connect your USB cable to your device and look at Odin, if you see the ID:COM spot light up yellow with some numbers in it your connected!
Then just place the tar file in PDA slot, make sure REBOOT ONLY is selected on Odin and press start. It will say pass when complete.. Your good to go from there...

Your welcome. I've been in a situation similar to this myself...
As far as the beer and shot, as it says in my signature below a nice cold Pepsi would be good enough for me

Re: Odin to stock with broken screen
Paul,
On this note, I have two Epics running custom roms, I have moved on to Nexus so haven't kept up on the forums. One is having issues, so want to put them both back on stock and ota to stock Gingerbread so I don't have to worry about maintaining or upgrading to newest roms (they are my
kids away at school, kind of a pain and one's battery is acting up).
Should I just Odin to EC05 as stock, then this will allow the update when it comes out??
All info will stay on card if backed up still won't it? Titanium won't work since it will now be unrooted, so I will also copy off to computer as much as possible "just in case". FYI - Nexus Odin erases everything because of the internal storage.
Thanks - 08-18-2011, 11:37 AM

Re: Odin to stock with broken screen
nmoreman, yes I would Odin to stock EC05 and wait on the official update.
Your sdcard's will remain untouched and your correct Titanium Backup will no longer work one you go back to stock.

Re: Odin to stock with broken screen
Thanks, I have not updated the many leaks out there. One (they are on two different ones),
has worse battery issues at times than stock. Reboot fixes, but will be glad to get GB on
them with no maintenance. Without the rooted roms we run, probably wouldn't have kept
them!! Great developers keep these phones running.
That is what is beautiful with the Nexus, you don't have to do anything - smooth, fast, and great
battery and reception for me. Yes, I finally rooted and running CM7, but such a pleasure not
to "have to"
Miss you guys - 08-19-2011, 09:13 AM #343
Re: Odin to stock with broken screen
Well my new phone came in and it was a lemon. Tons of issues. Radio turning off screen going black error messages popping up. Odined to see if it would help but did change anything...

Go figure.. I fully understand friend, I'm on my 3rd refurbish Epic in a week & half time... I have been trying to work something out with Sprint and haven't had much success to this point.
I have a thread about it here.
My disappointing call to Sprint....

Re: Help I Bricked My Phone!
Keep trying different USB ports, different cable if possible...
Also as mentioned in the workarounds...
Remove and leave out your battery then try to connect via USB cable and boot into download mode. See if Odin recognizes the device...
Remove your sdcard.
Shut down all anti virus apps on computer.
If you have a powered USB hub try that, the more power/stronger the juice is going threw the USB line the better the chance it all works...

Re: [How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)
I've read a little about that, but Odin has always been my friend. I would use that, 05 files and roll,
that is what I plan to do with my 2 phones. Midnight was wonderful, I don't know if you are having problems, look at his 6.0 GB leak. - 08-31-2011, 08:17 PM
