I will talk to DroidXcon, he was going to make a package for me that would "Wipe" the phone as Odin normally does. This could be "part" of the reason some people are having problems. I ran the package personally 3 times. First time I did get the boot loops, it was like 2am and we had been working on getting this together for a few hours so I might have goofed. My 2nd attempt was from EB13/CWM3/EXT4 running Baked Snack and it worked fine. 3rd attempt was from Eclair 2.1 (DI18) and it worked fine.
Don't panic friends, if get a "FAIL" you should still be fine and can simply reboot back into Download Mode and try again or flash to Eclair/Froyo EB13 and try again. DroidXcon has made plenty of these packages for his normal section the "Samsung Fascinate" and has had excellent success. I believe he removed a few things from the normal Odin packages that would be the culprit of a "permabrick" to protect you the user in case of a FAILED flash or something else going wrong.
Anyways.. I will see if DroidXcon has that new "WIPE" package ready to go and that should completely resolve any issues.

Hey no big deal, I knew I wasn't bricked. If anyone has issues they should just do what I did and Odin to stock EB13 then Odin to EC05 and your phone will work again. Just make sure you do a back up with my back up root and you can get all your apps plus data back, I wouldn't recommend backing up the system setting because there are always issues.
PLus it is always good to start fresh once in a while.
*Of note I was unable to get to EXT4 and CWM 3.0.0.6 using the one click method. I just got pushed into a vibrate loop after flashing the bonsaii kernel. - 03-24-2011, 12:39 PM #33

Started w/ Epic @ EB13.
Followed the procedure earlier in this thread. Downloaded/extracted the files, installed the USB drivers (the alternate/Samsung(?) driver install worked for me w/ Win Vista 64) before Odin could see my Epic in download mode via USB.
All in all, EC05 looks to be working, had my first exposure to Odin, am now rooted, really appreciate the time and effort to make this update available!
A big THANKS!!!

Easy as can be! I just did it and it took about 4 minutes. I was on EB13 with one click root.
I am at work and have no phone service, so I can't speak for any changes other than:
BASEBAND VERSION
S
700.0.5S.EC05
BUILD NUMBER
FROYO.EC05
Thank you! Hopefully this fixes my Bluetooth issues. - 03-24-2011, 12:52 PM #36

Thank you for this, it worked great! I ended up using ODIN to flash DB13, and then went straight to EC05

ok, I tried re downloading drivers, tried EB13, tried DI18 and EC05. I think my phone is bricked. I can boot into download mode, and sometimes into CWM, but every time it fails. Even tried reflashing truly epic rebirth from sd card, no go. I tried different usb cables, different ports.
my phone is now mostly unresponsive. if i power up it shows a little pic of a phone some dots ... and exclamation mark in a triangle ! .....then a computer. uh. is it dead yet? - 03-24-2011, 01:57 PM #43

I'm eager to jump on this, but I have a question that's been nagging me for a while...
I'm running the ACE 1.7 ROM, which is on EXT4. I'm assuming my data won't get transitioned into EC05 by itself, and that I'll need to use Titanium to backup and restore.
Now, since I'd be going from EXT4 to RFS in this process, would this affect my Titanium backup? Is it able to reliably backup from EXT4, and restore to RFS, without any problems?
I've been having quite a few FC's since getting ACE 1.7, and I did restore my data using Titanium. I've found that wiping the data for the FC'ing apps (and sometimes removing and reinstalling) tends to stop the FC's. I just don't want the same experience on EC05.
Thanks for the great work! The Epic ROM community on this board is the best! - 03-24-2011, 02:09 PM #45
