[Odin-EC05] Froyo EC05 Prerooted/CWM v2.5.1.0 RFS (Odexed)
First I would like to thank Android Central Adviser DroidXcon for making this happen. I was waiting on the official "update.zip" file so we could produce this for you. Once I obtained the update I was able to get the files DroidXcon needed to make the Odin ".tar" file. Thanks again DroidXcon.
I ran this package personally 3 times to verify its working

Thats right, you can flash this with Odin and you will not loose your data on your device! So if your already on Froyo EB13/DK28 or Eclair 2.1 you can use this file with Odin and retain your Data.

7) Start Odin
8) Plug in device via USB cable to computer, (if it's done right you should see a yellow Com device light up in one of the rectangular boxes)
9) Place the "EC05x_DXC.tar.md5" in the PDA slot on Odin
10) Check Auto Reboot ONLY
12) Click start and this should only take about 2-3 minutes to complete.
13) Wait for the green light in the Com device/rectangular box and the "Pass" to show.
When completed it should reboot into Froyo EC05 and you will have your previous Data still intact.
NOTE: For those interested in converting from this to EXT4/CWM 3.0.0.6 please see the following thread. Go to Procedure #2 and start at Step #2

*** Trouble Shoot for all Odin Packages... Read below... ***
If for some reason Odin does ever give you a FAIL or the process hangs up for more than 5 minutes in one spot then do the following.
- Pull your battery out of your device and leave it out.
- Plug in your device via USB cable and connect it to your computer.
- Then boot into Download Mode (hold 1 on physical keyboard and press power).
- Run the Odin package.
- When completed and you get the Green PASS, you can pop your battery back in and then reboot the phone and you should be good to go.
Note: Some devices have given some trouble and you have to attempt this twice to get it to work. Also make sure all anti virus software is off/disabled. One last option is remove your sdcard if everything else fails.
Other optional troubleshooting:
- Odin flash didn't work, getting boot loops? Try booting into CWM and wipe cache and dalvik only 3x. If that doesn't resolve it then run the Odin package again.
- Remove your sdcard
- Disable any anti virus and run Odin again
- Try a different USB cable or USB port
- Drivers above didn't work?? install (select "Software" at the bottom; it should say "Device(Install),USB Driver (Software) (ver.1.0)") instead.Last edited by Paul627g; 03-31-2011 at 11:36 PM. Reason: Added new universal troubleshoot for all Odin packages.

Would this be like like a ROM where it would take you off the ability to get OTA updates or is this like using Odin to return to DI18 where your phone is still "stock" so to speak? Thanks.

You should still be able to receive OTA updates as long as you don't remove any of the Sprint/Samsung bloatware and don't convert to EXT4/custom ROMs.
Side note: I would think this is the last OTA update we will be seeing for a while...

Does this do the modem update or is that still a separate update??
Will i be able to update to CW3 from CW2.5 if i want to try ext4 and custom roms?? - 03-24-2011, 09:29 AM #6
Do you receive OTA even if you are rooted? I did the update.zip process from DI18 to EB13 and then rooted my phone. I haven't removed any bloatware, converted to EXT4, or installed a custom ROM.
Only things that I use that take advantage of the root are Titanium Backup and Wireless Tether.
Thanks!Just my $2 worth.
It used to be my 2 cents worth but things have gone up a bit because of inflation. - 03-24-2011, 09:33 AM #7

Will this work with DG17? I just traded for an Epic, and the Sprint Rep did a factory reset, which got rid of any updated Firmware.

@Mike77, we will see.. Maybe they just started with the Eclair 2.1 rollout then finish up today into tomorrow with a mass push for EB13..

FYI for some, if you get stuck on "setup connection" in Odin, try switching usb ports. This doesn't work from my front usbs but works fine from the back.

tried it, got big red FAIL! in Odin, now my phone is jacked! whenever I turn it on, I get black screen with pic of small phone ... exclamation mark in yellow triangle... then pic of desktop.
did I just brick my phone? how screwed am I? - 03-24-2011, 11:12 AM #21
So I was coming from SRF v1.0.2(EXT4) and it was like the trouble shooting process was written for me.
Followed the steps
First problem: Odin stated cache.rfs....then fail(maybe issues because I was on ext4)
No biggie, just pulled the batter and flashed it with out the battery(I have no idea why this works...just weird)
Second Problem: Samsung logo bootloop, solution pull battery then reinsert and boot into CWM, wipe cache x3 then dalvik x3
No biggie then reflashed via Odin again and that passes.
Samsung logo shows up then it turns off. Any ideas? - 03-24-2011, 11:16 AM #22

Same thing I had, I was able to flash without the battery but I still can't get passed the looping samsung logo...Im going to try flashing an EB13 .tar and see if that helps
I was able to reflash the EB13.tar from here http://forum.androidcentral.com/epic...ked-phone.html and get a working phone again.
After returning to stock EB13 I was able to flash the EC05.tar via Odin it is all working now.
My recommendation for individuals on EB13 Ext4 roms odin back to stock EB13 before attempting this.Last edited by dtm_stretch; 03-24-2011 at 11:37 AM.

worked great updating from EB13, but I can't turn off TW. Force close Sprint ID/TW, clear the defaults, hit home and went I select launcher it gives me a "please wait while we configure your device and services" message and then takes me back to TW... maybe it has to do with Sprint ID and being able to skin TW.
Any ideas?Last edited by Butters3605; 03-24-2011 at 12:14 PM.
