I'm new to Android, it seems most of these rooting solutions use Odin. Are there ways of doing this (without too much command line heavy lifting) using OSX or Linux? You figure Android is built on the Linux kernel, so it should be an option.

From what I've read they have a newer version that fixes this. That said, seems a few people are having issues with data connectivity.

Personally, I'm going to wait until this gets more stable. These guys are doing great work and I am sure soon there will be a stable way of getting root

I used the method provided here: Epic 4G Touch Root
No connectivity problems, still have haptic feedback. Wireless tether working like a charm.
Only thing missing is CWM for now.

    Hi,

After rooting, how does one return to stock if needed to turn back into Sprint for any reason?

-- I hope I dont get flamed for this question - I did search.

At the moment there isn't a way... Should be one within the next couple of days though.

I downloaded superuser from market however it wants to update and says it can't the rootish5.tar didn't show superuser in applications so I downloaded it however it wont update.. Phone is rooted as wifi tether works however sueruser prompts me each time I start and stop it.

Well if you goofed like I did and downloaded the one from the market get file expert and change settings to root access then look under system\app you will find the superuser.apk file that works just uninstall the other that you downloaded from market and run the one from system\app.
