Whatever happened to the car mount that was suppose to be released for the Evo?

I saw a post the other day that linked to XDA, cant find it now though. Apparently Sprint can get them though, the guy over at XDA got the manager to order it for him, he has the part number posted just cant find the post for you.

Hey guys just spotted this at Best Buy and I opened it up. Was only able to take picture of box before the mobile guy stopped me. Gotta admit though, nothing special especially for $55. All it gives you is the ability to charge your EVO while its in the dock but you need another car charger to do so. It's easier and cheaper to just buy a universal mount and just use your car charger.

Thanks for letting us know they are at BB, i got mine from a sprint corp store with the 25% off for premier customers.

My quick review after owning one, very well made, a steel post,(not a masive ugly piece of plastic) plastic parts are not cheap, nice spring loaded base (tilts out slightly) for somewhat easy loading of the the EVO .

Of course has a MUSB charging circuitry which is nice if you are going hard wire a cable from under the dash. The plug is also on the BASE, not where the evo clips in so no wires sticking out or getting in your way while rotating the phone. (seido)

The swivel is ok,(after getting used to it) nice and tight. Rubber clip on top holds the EVO firmly in place.

The main thing, it holds the phone very well in all driving situations and i see no way the evo falling or popping out.

The EVO software in my opinion needs a little work, when you plug the phone in it brings up the "car panel" app automatically (can be switched off in settings), which is ok if you like it. Also all content like texts, email, navigation and internet show in landscape mode. This happens if even in settings you turn off the auto rotate, which is my only complaint about the dock.

Some people have complained it does come with a charging cable, 1st of all it would only add to the price and im pretty sure 90% of the people buying these already have a car charger because of the evo's wonderful battery life.

Regarding can it be used with a case NO, but i use Phantom Skinz cromatics for surface protection and they work fine.

I just picked up one of these from Sprint today. Not cheap (~$60) but the first car mount that holds the evo securely from the windshield of my car, so well worth it from my perspective.

They had one at Best Buy on Sunday, so I picked it up with a $10 discount (was buying a new phone for my son, so they discounted all accessories). Very, very solid. I'm happy with it. Just wish Car Panel would display in landscape...

You might want to try the app. It's a replacement car panel that supports voice commands and landscape view. I tried it out today and like it so far.

Custom Car Home works great, looks like the stock app but is customizable (with up to 3 pages) and works in landscape (or portrait)

My only complaint with this mount is the slow charging.
