Problem with 32 gb micro SD
Iniitially I formatted it in the phone. Appeared to work well. I started transferring my files from my old card to the new. It got stuck, the computer locked up, and I had to reboot. Now it says I need to format the SD card to do anything with it. My computer only gives me the option of formatting an 8 gb to FAT rather than FAT32. When I select it, it starts but then almost immediately gives me an error saying windows wasn't able to complete the format.
Any ideas? My phone will not let me format it either. It is worthless until I can get this accomplished. - 12-10-2010, 07:12 PM #2
State the brand and class of card so we can help. Evo I assume.

Man, that's a tough one. Did the card come with some sort of warranty from Kingston? Maybe you can send it back and get a replacement.

I went through the same thing with my Sandisk 32GB card. If you're phone can't see it and your computer won't format it without an error, it's hosed. I spent hours and hours trying to fix it. It ain't happening. Sandisk RMA'ed it, but it took 12 weeks to get a replacement. By that time I'd already bought a new one.

12 weeks?
Jeez. I guess because I am photographer I get my Compact Flash cards turned around really quickly when I have replaced 2.
Did you get the card off of ebay OP?
If so there is your problem. - 12-17-2010, 02:14 AM

Yes, I bought it off of eBay. The seller has agreed to replace it. I dropped it in the mail yesterday to send back. Hopefully I will have a replacement before the first of the year.

It's a fake. Most companies buy the bad stock of cards that come off the line or make nice knock offs. Next one you get call Kingston a the serial and they can tell.

Confirmed... Counterfeit. Seller said he is going to refund. He claims he didn't know until he started receiving complaints from his buyers. Kingston told me it is a 2gb card made to look like a 32 gb. He said they will obviously make external changes to give it the appearance of one, and they will tinker with the firmware as well which then creates havoc when you try to use it.
