I'm taking the plunge. I really need to do a factory reset so I figured I might as well go whole hog. I have a Sprint Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.1. I've downloaded the toolkit for Galaxy Nexus from XDA and watched a YouTube video that mostly followed along with the XDA toolkit. However, the video missed a bunch of steps so here I am hoping you will fill in the gaps.

1) My version and build, version 4.2.1 build JOP40D match the GSM US model with wallet, not the CDMA/LTE Sprint model. Which do I choose? This seems like it's the most important thing NOT to mess up.

2) To do the backup, it says "Run in Android"? What does that mean? That my phone needs to be hooked up to the computer?

3) Flash Recovery. Okay, I'm not really sure what this is. I always assumed it was something that allowed you to put your phone back to normal but it didn't seem that way on the video. He got all excited about using this to clear his cache. He also did the Flash Recovery step AFTER doing the 1-click step which says that it does the Flash Recovery as part of the process. Is this necessary or is just if you want to switch recoveries?

And last, but certainly not least,
4) Once I'm rooted, then what? I would like to upgrade to 4.2.2 since Sprint hasn't pushed it and update my radio. How do I do these?

I got my S4 at the beginning of the month and I absolutely love it! I get 3 days out of this thing on one charge, that's bloody fantastic! That's actually the reason I came here; I don't want this battery life to degrade too heavily, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the proper or ideal percentage at which I should charge my battery. Lately I've been doing it at 0% (I've charged my phone only 4-5 times since I've gotten it, to give you a general idea). I know that charging it consistently at 0% is not the best thing to do, so I've decided to take to the forums and look for some guidance. Can anyone help me shed light on this issue?

Additionally, Google isn't helping me, because all I find are increasingly conflicting answers, so I'd really appreciate anything any of you can do for me. I have no clue what options are left for me to install a new ROM.
It doesn't recognize my SD card. Odin doesn't recognize the phone. (drivers and everything for pc is fine, other phones work). The current ROM is ******* terrible.

I didn't make a backup or anything.

Is there anything I can do?

On my blackberry, I used to be able to set up email filters so that specifically titled emails from specific senders would ring when the phone was in "night" notification profile.

I've currently upgraded to a Samsung S4. I've found the Sound Profiles app, which has the ability to set different notification profiles but it does not have the capability to filter specifically-titled emails.

To clarify; what I need is to set my phone into "night" mode so that it rings from phone calls only and to set it so that the phone will audibly notify me when specific emails are received on the phone as well. Does anyone know of an app that can do this? Or is there a way to do it on the S4 without an app?

I am using DistantControl to restrict what apps are available and I have restricted the email account that I've set up using the pre-installed Mail app to only be able to send and receive from certain email addresses.

What I can't find a way of doing is preventing the user from configuring an additional email address. They can simple "Add Account". Any ideas how to prevent this would be very helpful.

Whenever I try to add a widget (long press, choose "widgets") it just opens the app drawer for about a second and a half, then closes it. It's supposed to bring up a list of widgets to choose from. I have tried restarting the phone, switching from Nova Launcher to Apex (temporarily), but it keeps doing the same thing.

Yesterday I was able to connect my Samsung Galaxy S4 using Android File Transfer to my Mac OSX 10.8.3. Now today I can't get it to work. Any tips? I also tried to install Samsung Kies and neither can see my phone. When I connect to the USB on the phone it says "Connected as a Camera". I don't remember that before. How can I have it connect as a mass storage device or fix this issue?

I liked the idea of having full access to my phone, but I didn't know how to do anything with it really.
Anyway, after rooting my device I got the "Freedom" app, and I had to uninstall the updates for the "Google Play Store" for it to work correctly. After doing that my Play Store would no longer work, and after a while I tried re-installing Google Play. After several attempts I got the same error of "Out of Space" when I had between 5 & 6 GB of free hard disk space. I finally went ahead and restored my device after finding out that I could not use the Time Warner Cable app AND that my Google Play Store would no longer work.
I am just wondering if there is any way that I can re-root my device and re-install Freedom while still being able to use my Play Store. Also, I'm wondering if anyone here has found a way to get the TWC app to work on rooted devices. For the TWC app, I know it searches for SuperUser.apk and for test-files and I think you can rename them and get it to work. Also, I was wondering if you could get the app to work outside of your home Wi-Fi, or if you could use it off of your mobile connection.
Any help is greatly appreciated, as well as any help anyone wants to give me on custom ROMs, or anything on basic rooting tips and advice, any 'must have' rooting apps or apps to get for rooted devices, and how to fully back up my device so I don't have to do a clean restore like the last time.
