Being into computers for many years I've always pushed them to do things regular users don't do (XBMC, web hosting, movie and media inventory collection O:-), camera driven alarm system connected to my phone, ultimate flight simulator setup, network monitoring, etc). I'm no different with my smartphone wanting it do more than what most use them for.
With all the great smartphone users in this forum, what is the wow app/feature/how you use it, that you show off most to family or friends?

I'll start with a few...

Llama app - aside from all the regular automation of syncing, wifi, blu tooth toggle in the car, it silences my phone right when I walk into our local movie theatre (after a 5 minute delay, in case I'm meeting someone). Wife always reminds me to turn it off, now I can just say...done!

ActionComplete App - reminds me to pick stuff up when I'm in the vicinity of things (hardware store, groceries, mall, etc.)

HTC Zoe - making quick movies with a choice of themes from my camera and publishing them.

HTC Zoe -removing objects from my photos (can't wait to try this in Disneyland with all the people that get in the photo)

Remoting into my home camera system with tinyCam which also texts me alarms during certain times of the day when I'm not home or on vacation. I can then send/hear audio over the net to the camera to say "waddya want?!". So far I'm only scarying stray cats, but nice piece of mind.

Send text while driving....O:-) just thru voice commands.

Where's my droid app...just by texting my 7 year old daughters name to her phone I can find out her location by turning on GPS and giving me the exact location on the map. Came in handy once when the bus driver dropped her off at the wrong bus stop and she was lost.

Let's hear yours!

So to see if it would fix my issues im having with google music all access's audio quality over 3G, I tried deleting the app data from the app in my app section of my settings menu. Since I have a Nexus 4, the app cant be uninstalled all together since google music comes on the stock software, but im wondering if I can damage the app by doing this? when I opened it up again it loaded to the old google music layout because it uninstalled the updates as well. I then went to the play store and redownloaded the update to google music, and it was back to its new look. it re-synced with my cloud librarey and looked like it was fine.

but I do wonder if I could have done any damage by doing this? or is everything cool and im worrying too much?

The wife is telling me to get rid of one or the other since I don't need 2 phones right now and we could use the money. I have swapped back and forth till I am blue in the face and I admit I can't seem to be an adult and pick one. So I am leaving it up to you. Whichever has more votes is the one I will keep.

Hi everyone. I am planning to go to India soon and I need a smartphone to use over there. I don't want to use my Nexus 4 over there. I want a nice phone but I do not want to pay $500 for it to be unlocked. I will not be inserting a sim card into this phone. I am just using this over WiFi to make calls over services like Skype and ooVoo. Is there a way that I can order lets say an HTC One off of Amazon for $200 and not activate it. Just use the phone regularly without a contract. When ordering a phone off of Amazon, do you have to fill out any contract details or do you just pay the $200 with your credit card and enter in all of your details like your address and your name? Thank you and please reply fast!

Samsung's Touchwiz with great multitasking ability but lacks on the usability department which many complain ... I find it easy to use though
Then you have Nokia's Window UI which I really love but it has a lot more room to improve
Emotion UI from Huawei Edge, much more improved usability in compare to samsung but probably lacks features
Then the HTC and Blackberry UI
We're live from London, where Chinese manufacturer Huawei is showing off its latest Android smartphone, the Ascend P6. An insanely svelte little handset, the P6 measures in at just 6.18mm thick, making it the thinnest Android phone we're aware of.

The thinness is Huawei's lead bullet point here, with the phone measuring in at a mere 6.18 mm. It's sporting a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and runs Android 4.2.2. The LCD display proclaims to have "MagicTouch"
It features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.2.2 operating system, 2000mAh battery, 4.7-inch HD in-cell LCD screen technology, and ‘MagicTouch’ for enhanced screen responsiveness even when wearing gloves.

During Google I/O new Google sync options were presented. Sync App Data in particular. But since then no real information and explanation on how this works has been available (this is so "Google"). This article: Google 'App Data' sync setting appearing on devices | Android Central also doesn't really explain anything.

So what is this Sync App Data is for? Syncing app data between devices? Has anyone managed to restore data with it after a hard reset for example? It doesn't seem to sync for me automatically btw, even though I have the box checked..

The paid version gives you carrier coverage at street level. So far it has been very accurate in terms of AT&T LTE coverage in my area.

It has a clean and simple interface too.
