Hi folks.

Just picked up a Nexus 7 and after the initial setup, it started to download app updates from the Play Store (updates to the Google apps that are pre-installed), and the thing basically isn't downloading them. Well, more precisely, it's downloading them very, very, very, very slowly (as in, download bar in the store goes from 15kb, then holds for 60-120 seconds, then to 35kb, then holds again, and so on -- very, very slow). I have very fast internet, and my HTC One is not having similar issues (just updated a slew of apps on it with no problem). I reset the router, rebooted the device, deleted and re-added my Google account. Still the same issue.

Is this a known issue or a device-specific problem (i.e., I have a bad unit)?

I am looking to buy a tablet which will mainly be used for e-reading, web browsing and limited gaming. I read a lot of books and i hope you guys can answer a couple of questions thats holding me back before i go for the N7.

1. ios5/6 safari reader function from apple is a cool feature which makes is much easier to read text. Is there something similar for the N7?
2. I have books saved on my HD which i would like to load on the N7 via google books. I hear conflicting reports, is this possible.

Finally how is i generally to read in comparison to say a kindle from books to pdf's?

Regards,
Richie.

I had created a hot spot in Windows 7 with WPA2-personal radio type. I am able to see this hotspot and also connect to it from from Motorola Atrix 4G phone. But I am not able to see this in my Google Nexus 7 tablet.

I had verified that the hotspot is made "discover able" from public networks as well.

Any clues on why this so? Thanks for your help in advance.

Ok so these first 2 problems I can deal with, if it's an easy fix ill try it but it's not really a big deal I can live with them.

First, my tablets left side is a bit squeaky and seems like it isn't attacked properly but I don't think it will actually fall out so it isn't a big deal, next my tablet has a yellow tint on it, not all the time but sometimes it shows up, it isn't the whole screen that turns yellow just the bottom and left side get a bit of a tint every now and then.

Again those aren't all that big a deal unless they will seriously hurt my tablet in the future I'll probably send it in(I'm still under warranty)

This next problem though is getting to be a real bother and if anyone knows how to fix it I would really appreciate it if I can fix it myself that'd be great cause I don't really want to send it in I heard they'll hold onto it for a month or longer.

So my tablet won't charge properly, sometimes it charges like normal(goes up 3 or so percent over a ten minute period of being plugged in to the charger) however, sometimes it will take 10,15 or even 20 minutes to go up just 1 percent and sometimes(very rarely) it wont read the charger at all I'll plug it in and it acts as if it doesn't have the charger attached until I turn it off and on or un plug and plug back in this happens rarely but it does happen.

At first I thought maybe it was the outlet so I swapped it but that didn't fix, so I finally bought a brand new charger an official nexus 7 charger and that didn't even fix it so I think it may be my tablet.

I again tried different outlets but nothing fixes it, if anybody could help I would really appreciate it, I would hate to send it in because I don't want to lose all of my apps and data and books and everything else I have on here.

If I absolutely have to send it in for repair I will but if anyone can help me fix it on my own that would be much better, thanks!

My background is that of a hardcore Android lover. I love Android on the phone and will probably not switch back to iPhone anytime soon. However I did use the iPad up until the Nexus 7 came out.

I have a daughter and have purchased some apps for my Nexus 7 for her and games for me too. I sold my Nexus 7 in anticipation for the next Nexus 7. When that wasn't announced at Google I/O, I decided to go out on a whim and buy the iPad Mini for $299 at Wal-Mart.

I love that apps like ABC, NBC, Nickelodeon all have quality streaming video. None are available on the Nexus 7. The con is that I'd have to buy apps for two different platforms if I want them on both the tablet and the phone.

I guess I'm just looking for thoughts on if I should keep the iPad Mini or wait it out and get the next Nexus 7 tablet. Anyone have both an iPad and an Android phone?

Amazon.com: SNES Retro USB Super Nintendo Controller: Video Games

I also have the official N7 dock. I place the N7 in the dock and plug the OTG adapter into the N7 then the controller into the adapter.

Once I do this, the N7 stops charging even though it's in the dock. The controller still works though and I'm able to use it in Snes9x EX+.

Is there any way to fix this?

I'm a new user to the Nexus 7 and am getting very frustrated. I want to take books I buy through Amazon and the Kindle app and read them with the Nook reader in my nook library. I figured getting them their was as easy as downloading Calibre and copy/pasting. Apparently not. I managed to find a .DRM cracker plugin for Calibre and was able to convert my wanted book to .epub, but have no idea idea what to do from here. I put it on the device with Calibre and now need to somehow get it into my Nook library. How do I do this? Please help a new user out, I'm ready to just send it back for a Kindle Fire.

Screen can't flip into landscape and back, and I've tested it out on games like doodle jump. I can't move the character, which means the accelerometer just ain't working anymore, is it? I tried doing a factory reset, but it didn't seem to help. Maybe it was due to the recent update? I can't seem to remove that update even after the reset. I have got no clue as to what I should do.

Hi all!

My apologies if this has already been answered - I did do a forum search and didn't come up with a recent answer. I was affected by the last JB update on my N7 - the charging time is redonkulous! My tablet died overnight, so I put it on a charger we had in the living room. I checked it 6 hours later and it was at 17%! I've been wanting to use it and haven't been able to, due to the fact that it won't charge. It charged just fine until the last update. I tried reverting to the last software before the update, but I wasn't successful and after being worried that I bricked my tablet, am VERY hesitant to try it again. I located all the original cords (they have a way of getting all mixed up) and I have it on there to see how much it will improve - either way it sucks!

Is there any other fix for this yet? TIA!!

When I first setup my tablet and email accounts, Facebook, twitter etc. I was able to use custom notifications that I installed on my N7 to match the ones I use on my SGS3. I am rooted and using Nova Launcher as well. I was having another issue and reset my tablet.

Since restoring everything when setting up email notifications Facebook etc. again my custom notifications no longer show in any program just the default ones that came with the device.

Any ideas how I can access these again? As stated it did work before the last reset and they were showing up, now they don't.
