I did a factory reset on my son's razr maxx HD because he simply installed too many apps. I entered my gmail account info and password during the setup wizard and I didn't see any special. Next I launched Google Play Store to update his apps and to my surprise ... a window opened that read ... "Welcome to Google Wallet: Cancel or Continue". I entered my gmail info and completed the setup. App works great for purchases and browsing the receipts of my previous purchases. Now I am waiting for Verizon to allow it to work on MY phone ... Samsung Note 2, but for all you Razr users ... ENJOY!

You may have learned that Jelly Bean has removed the USB mass storage feature of your Android phone. One of the side effects is that your vehicle's Bluetooth system will no longer recognize your phone as a storage device. Practically speaking this means your vehicle cannot access tags in your phone's music library, i.e. you can't tell your vehicle, "play track Highway Star". (This will work if your music is stored on a thumb drive, but not your phone.)

I've discovered a workaround. I have a 2012 Ford F150 but I assume it would be similar on other makes/models of vehicles.

I put my F150 in bluetooth mode by saying "Bluetooth audio". Then I swipe upwards from the phone's dock to access Google Now searchbar. I then tap on the Google microphone icon and use the Google Voice Search feature to find the music track on my phone by saying, "Listen to Highway Star." Phone responds by saying "playing desired selection" and starts playing the song!

Be aware that some tracks you search for with Google Voice Search will return Web search results instead of playing the song but I'm getting about a 75% success rate.

So I got my RAZR Maxx HD a week ago today and found that there was no Verizon branding on the front glass. The only branding on the actual phone is the small dark grey Verizon logo on the back which is actually really hard to see. Coming from a galaxy nexus, I'm actually really happy about this. My question is though how many of you guys out there got yours with no branding? Keep in mind, I bought it new, and it came with a box and everything.

I just bought a Razr Maxx HD yesterday. I came from a Samsung Charge, which I really hated.

After 24 hours of use, I am far from impressed. The phone came with 4.2 JB and the real reason I bought the phone was battery life. With what I would call moderate to aggressive use of the phone, the battery was at 33% at 11:30a and I didn't pick it up until 7:30a.

The processes by the specs should be twice as fast (i.e. more ram, twice the processor, etc) but it is about as fast as the Charge and there can be a lag on the phone where any button is pushed and it does nothing for about 10-15 seconds of repeated pushes. Additionally, when I went to check my email this morning; it took around 20-30 seconds for the text of the email to load, huge lag with forwarding an email.

If there are tips or tricks that I should know for battery use or speed, please let me know. At this point, I have 13 days to return the phone and unless something changes, I don't see a reason to keep a phone that I have to fiddle with the settings (which is why I bought in the first place, to not have to) to get a work day's worth of use when I can just strip down the Charge and get the same speed and battery life...........but I get my $200 back.

Other things to note: unrooted, Go Launcher, mainly using email and playing with settings today (no streaming, videos, movies).

Since getting this phone about a month ago, I've had several instances where an alarm goes off at the proper time, but if I reach for it, I must touch something before getting to the DISMISS button.
When this happens, and the phone is locked, I can't silence the alarm even by logging in (password) - getting to the home screen and trying to see if the alarm is "active" (Droid shows no active programs) or going into the clock and unchecking any alarms that have been set.
I end up doing one of two things:
1) allow the alarm to time out and shutoff (no one around me appreciates this option) or
2) powering down, restarting the phone. Not too much fun either, especially if it's an alarm to get me up for work in the morning - and maybe I'm running late.

What's up?

So today I put PdaNet+ on the phone and it worked fine. Later, I go to use the phone and it said emergency use only, with no service, etc. First I thought Verizon found out and disabled my phone, paranoid that I am. Searched the web, lots of posts said something about a PIN, so I finally tried the PIN I used for the PdaNet, and voila, it worked. Wish I had known that the pin wasn't just for that app, but locked it all the time. Sort of a pain, since no one see's my phone but me, and I don't have anything sensitive on it anyway.

I'm really beginning to love my new (two months) Razr Maxx HD more each day.

It's becoming as close to stock as one can get without an actual Nexus device!

New Gmail, new Google Calendar, now the new stock Android Keyboard. Added Nova launcher for stock look and feel and to replace Moto's icons with stock... I'm actually quite happy. A tweak of the free men setting and its now smooth as silk. And the battery is bottomless.
