Aperture is how large the lens diameter is. The larger it is, the more light it lets in. But the shorter the distance for good focus. (

Shutter speed is the time the shutter stays open. The longer it's open, the more light the CCD can gather, but if the subject is moving it can blur.
ISO is the equivalent of the sensitivity of the film. (It stands for
International
Standards Organization - they set a standard of measure for film sensitivity which is also used for equivalent digital camera sensitivity.) The higher the ISO number, the more sensitive the camera is being, so the more light it captures with a smaller aperture, a faster shutter or both. BTW, the secret of taking good pictures, according to Ansel Adams, probably one of the greatest photographers of all time, is to take a lot of pictures. Even he considered only 1/2% to 1% of the pictures he took to be really good. He just took so many that there are many great pictures of his.
Dorothea Lange was also one of the greats - her secret was subject matter. She captured the feelings of the poor during the depression. You can see the desolation in the faces she photographed better than any history of the period can describe.
