Aperture is how large the lens diameter is. The larger it is, the more light it lets in. But the shorter the distance for good focus. (Online Depth of Field Calculator will show you the limits of focus for any given aperture for the listed cameras - yours is the D3x.)

Shutter speed is the time the shutter stays open. The longer it's open, the more light the CCD can gather, but if the subject is moving it can blur.

ISO is the equivalent of the sensitivity of the film. (It stands for International Standards Organization - they set a standard of measure for film sensitivity which is also used for equivalent digital camera sensitivity.) The higher the ISO number, the more sensitive the camera is being, so the more light it captures with a smaller aperture, a faster shutter or both. (And it can also lead to more graininess in the picture.) To see what ISO corresponds to about what film, see the rightmost column of Film speed - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BTW, the secret of taking good pictures, according to Ansel Adams, probably one of the greatest photographers of all time, is to take a lot of pictures. Even he considered only 1/2% to 1% of the pictures he took to be really good. He just took so many that there are many great pictures of his.

Dorothea Lange was also one of the greats - her secret was subject matter. She captured the feelings of the poor during the depression. You can see the desolation in the faces she photographed better than any history of the period can describe.

Hashtags turn topics and phrases into clickable links in your posts on your personal Timeline or Page. This helps people find posts about topics they’re interested in. To make a hashtag, write # (the number sign) along with a topic or phrase and add it to your post. For example:

I just saw the cutest puppy! #dogs

When you click a hashtag, you’ll see a feed of posts that include that hashtag. You may also see some related hashtags at the top of the page.
