Step counting and gestures on fossil q Marshall

[AC Question]

Recently got a Fossil Q Marshall (running wear 2.0) and experiencing intermittent step counting. Some days the counter works, others it doesn't. I've checked all settings I can find but nothing makes a difference. Anyone else having this problem, or found a solution?

Also the gesture to switch on the watch face when it is raised to check the time also works intermittently. Again has anyone experienced problems with this? Could it be related to the step counter issue?

I don't bother with using my watch for fitness tracking but I do have issues with raise to wake feature on my Q Marshal as well. Given that fitness tracking uses motion detection I'm sure in some way both are related. Whether it's a hardware issue or software or calibration I don't know, all that I do know is that there is no way for the user to calibrate nor has things improved between Wear 1.5 and 2.0.
