I recommend Pathom skinz but your phone is probably too new for most screen protector manufacture to have one out for you model phone.

The tmobile ones are nice, expensive, but nice. Your store will probably have them already too.

I use Panthom Skinz also - and love it - no rainbow effect like my old Body Guardz and not to much oragne peel like Invisiheild - also slightly thinner than both.

I only use a screen protector to help eliminate finger prints - not so much to protect the screen - luckily for me it barely hurts the clarity on my amoled screen.

Does it need one? Isn't it made of Gorilla Glass?

Epic is made of Gorilla Glass, and I took GOOD care of it during my 30 day trial, and little knicks still found their way on.

I've used Zagg on a few devices, no problems-

Be aware the G2 currently listed on their site is the European G2 Touch, NOT our model. Hopefully they will release one soon. But what I really need is an Otterbox....

Are these matte finish? My friend has some anti-smear screen protector on his Droid X, and I think it makes the screen look dull.

I am a screen protector fanatic, and am very very picky about the screen protector I use.

Protectors I've tried on my G1 and other devices and how i would rate them:

Martin Fields: 8/10, very clear, but not quite smooth enough to the touch

Anti Glare (i've tried a few different brands): 5/10 smooth to the touch but distorts screen, makes everything look all pixelated

Zaggs Invisible Shields: 3/10 absolutely the worst, tacky feeling, hard to slide your finger over, clarity was fine though

T-mobile anti-smear: 7/10 I thought these would be awful but i have one on my g2 right now, its very smooth to the touch, but it does pixelate the screen somewhat, but its not bad

Phantom Skinz: Just ordered one, got it for 8$ shipped (20% off coupon code on the net just search for it) haven't received it yet but I have high hopes, I've heard great things

    hope this helps a little

I had a full-body Phantom Skinz cover on my BlackBerry Tour.

The screen protector seemed very durable, but it caused a rainbow effect. They sent me some free replacements in case is was a defect in that particular screen protector, but the same thing happened with the new one. Last I read on the Crackberry forums, a lot of people were getting the rainbowing, and the company was trying to determine if it was a manufacturing problem.

The rest of the skin looked great. I didn't get any lint buildup on the edges of the skin like with Invisible Shield (applied previously on an iPod). I never really got used to feeling the edges, however, and ended up removing all of the skin except for on the back cover.

The best screen protector I had actually came free with a cheap TPU case on eBay. It was one of those stiff ones that has a clear film on both sides. Super-easy install, and perfectly clear. I'm still trying to find the equivalent for the G2.

I don't use screen protectors, they make the screen look and feel weird... for devices such as a BlackBerry, it doesn't really matter just because it isn't a touchscreen device...

I used these on my EVO's and they were great. Plan on going that route again.

i don't own any screen protector yet, but these are my impressions from research and from examining my friends' phones

let's get one thing straight. none of these dental dam style protectors are going to save a phone from damage dropping it on concrete; even a 12" drop. Especially these nice heavy and fragile smartphones that we have. we need some realistic expectations here.

the purpose is to protect against keys, coins in pocket, dirty dashboards/glove compartments or tables that we like to store our phone. Maybe a fingernail stab when using the touchscreen. maybe setting it down on the curb/floor to play ball.

all these protectors might be 1 time use. in the videos they look pretty jacked up after they are 'punished'. of course they are immediately peeled off before showing you the phone spared of damage (without showing the dead protector)

    Zagg -
Thickest w/ self healing, highest level of protection for these film type protectors (they take a dremel to it and i bet it isnt self healing from that), best grip, attracts pocket lint, probably good warranty and customer service due to
Most expensive, heard it can peel off at the edges, yellows over time, rubbery feeling not optimal for touch screens, orange peel effect (early versions)

    PhantomSkinz -
Easiest to install, thin (like a condom), silky feels great for touchscreens, most invisible/best looking, minimal protection**, average warranty (it's handled by a 3rd party)
One time use protection/not self healing (once damaged, it's done - should protect the phone for the first 'incident')

    StealthGuards -
Free right now, i heard it's like phantom skinz but thicker (so maybe like polyurethanes lol).
Probably no customer service, no frills, no fancy box, attracts oils/prints

i personally ordered the stealthguards to try it. i have minimal expectations.

Nobody expects a screen protector to protect against a drop. That's what a case is for.

I personally don't like any of the ones you mentioned better than bodyguardz (or seidio). I'm not a fan of wet apply films like that anymore.

i researched the zagg invisibleshield extensively. most of my friends have it installed at the mall booths for like $45 ugh. Or can be bought for like $25 online. their's turned yellow and definitely did not feel good for a touch screen (they have blackberry so it's okay for them). quite a bit of orange peel too.

i was going to buy phantom skins, but i read they are very thin and don't self heal. after experiencing the SGuards, i dont think i could pay more than $10 for protectors anymore.

i'm not really going to write a review, but here are my thoughts:

The stealthguards (took about 3 business days to arrive) and i installed them. it's essentially front and back protection; no sides (that would be difficult to install anyway). the pics are after 24 hours of install. i think they need a week to cure especially in this weather.

my phone originally came with some cheap static cling, ebay, crap that got dust and air under it etc. This is my first wet install and to tell you the truth i think it is the way to go when it comes to films. Home/automotive Window tint is wet install also for a reason. I didn't do a perfect job maybe 90% of perfect IMO, but it's far better than what i had before. it was a lot easier than i thought and if did it again, i would be very comfortable doing so.

First off i paid $2.85 shipped for this stuff. it came in an envelope with invoice. No frills, no instructions, just the protector sheets. I did my research before hand i didnt really need any instruction on how to install this. I used a drop of baby shampoo and distilled water in a bowl. I used a credit card to squegee the water out (if i had one of those nice silicon ones that the pro's use i could probably do a better job). i dipped my fingers into the solution, then the entire protector sheet into the bowl and then applied it to the phone.

the site looks like a scam like some other reviews mention, i got mine in 3 days. i am buying more for spares and xmas gifts.

there is a Tiny amount of orange peel, but barely noticeable it might go away when it cures. The feel is great for a touch screen (this was a major concern for me when researching protective films). I think the thickness is just right when it comes to protection and feel.

the camera, flash, and speaker cutouts need to be removed first, not a big deal. they came out fairly easily with the help of a razor blade. i applied some of the leftover protector to my worktable and stabbed it a few times with the blade. This stuff is pretty tough. The blade didnt go through it that easily. I'm pretty convinced it's up to the task that it was designed for.

It does attract fingerprints a little bit. Im not sure how other films deal with this since i have limited experience with other brands. It doesn't bother me that much though. the fit is better than i thought. I was expecting something really bad for the price.

i jacked up the volume corner a little bit when i was removing the case o well.

Looks like you did a good job installing it. Would you have any tips for anyone trying out this product? Did you notice any issues with the fit of the protector (like were the cutouts in the correct place, edges correct, etc)?

    Update:

A mark will not go away from my screen; i can only see it when there's a bright white background. It does bother me, but i am 99% sure this is a result of my rushed installation, my finger wasnt wet enough when i was peeling it off. Wear gloves, submerge the whole protector in the water when you plan to install and peel it off.

Orange peel is definitely still there; although i can only see it at narrow angles. It definitely has an orange peel effect, but not noticeable during normal use. It doesn't really bother me. I dont think it will bother anyone else unless you are just being picky.

It attracts fingerprints and oils. Easily wipes off, but i think some protectors may be more resistant to this than others. I can live with this given the benefits and price. I would say, this is the only issue with the design/capability/functionality of the protector.

The fit is excellent; the battery door is like dead on for sure. Cutout on screen, camera/flash, speaker, and optical pad is perfect as one can expect. The trick here though is Not to stretch the material when you are peeling it off the paper during installation. The adhesive is strong so it is a risk.

Installation is everything. Given a good install, this protector has very few drawbacks. I have confidence that i wont have lifting issues.

I am 60% confident in the self healing properties of this material. It definitely heals small scratches from normal use. More severe scratches that actually 'stretch' the material and cause a bubble or something you can feel on the surface i dont think will recover...i dont expect any material will recover from that type of abuse.

Overall i am satisfied with my purchase and i have purchased again for my zunehd and other phones used in my family. If they made this product for my netbook i would buy it.

Note that shipping is NOT combined. So free essentially means $3. 6 qty with a price of 0 each will still cost you about $18. At $3 shipped these are still worth it to me compared to the "other protectors" that sell at a way higher price.

Seidio just released their ultimate screen guard for the G2.

I know from experience these are very high quality.

I just applied my SG screen protector. I had the BG on my BB 9700 and the SG has a lot less orange peel which I was happy to see. I like how the film is just thick enough that it gets rid of the small lip from the brushed aluminum around the screen. I am only using the screen protector because I use the otterbox case.
