When they released 1.0, it was only for 2.2 devices per their own tweet (@trendyent) from about 8am today:
Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is 2.2 only right now, so if you aren't running 2.2 you won't see it in the marketplace.
Now with the release of 1.1, they've added 2.1 support for supported devices. - 12-24-2010, 01:34 PM #20

I have a feeling it runs choppy on stock roms. Anyone here with overclocked evos get a chance to try this game? I'd like to know before spending the $$$

Well, it looks too complicated for me, I'd get it just to see how well it runs, good thing is that we can buy it from the Market, unlike other developers with nice 3d games....yes, talking to you Gameloft!,....so, if it runs crappy on your current phone, you know it will run super smooth on your next one, it will be like playing a new game all over again! I am just so low on phone memory, I just don't think I can install it.

I'm aware of what it runs on. FWIW, the Epic has unofficially had 2.2 for a bit now, with the official coming on Sunday.
I was just relaying what the devs of DD (Trendy Entertainment @trendyent on Twitter)) had to say about the game at 8am this morning when v1.0 was released. Which was, if you didn't have a supported device running 2.2, you, wouldn't be able to download it. That was rectified a couple hours later when 1.1 was released which enabled supported devices running 2.1.
It's all a moot point now as all of the supported devices can now see the app in the market and play the game.
