Default Anyone actually own an Exhilarate?

Since AC has no forum dedicated to it (that I can find), I'm wondering if anyone actually owns a Samsung Exhilarate (SGH-I577) on AT&T. I was looking at picking it up for my daughter, as it seems to fit the bill nicely for her, but I can't find much about it in the way of reviews.

Generally, I am curious how it performs and whether or not the display has Gorilla Glass. Its specs seem to be roughly equivalent to a Skyrocket with smaller megapixel cameras (5 & 1.3 vs 8 & 2), a smaller display (4.0 vs 4.5), and a smaller battery (1750mAH vs 1850mAH).

    Anyone have any info?

Just picked one up yesterday (plus another in the family). Seems like a good phone so far, though since it's my first Android device, as I've been a webOS user for the last few years. I was drawn in part to the physical design (the contoured edges on the back and the non-fingerprint-magnet back panel).

Glad to read about the 80% recycling aspect too, which would also have drawn me to it had I known pre-purchase. Haven't seen anything to definitively indicate whether the screen is Gorilla Glass, though it seems more likely than not.

One other note: I'm in the market for a pouch case for mine. Since this is a new model and it's not clear in the store, can anyone suggest which of the case sizes to work from?

I just picked one up Monday. It is also my first Android coming from a torch. I didn't want one of the big galaxy phones so this seemed like a good choice.

Having a hard time with the transition from blackberry, so I can't really give an objective opinion. It's really smooth and fast.

One question: I keep the phone in silent mode most of the time (too many times when I want it in silent mode, e.g. at work--I've always found the simplest thing is to keep whatever phone I've had in silent mode). However, with this one, if I hit the volume buttons, boom! the sound is back on. Any way to disable this "feature" and have the phone stay silent unless I, manually, switch the sound back on?

Posting here since I didn't see another option that made sense.

I get this too since the lock button is opposite the volume up button. I've taken to just pushing down the volume periodically just to be sure. Doesn't count as a solution.

Volume Locker (market link: http://goo.gl/P7uUH) will probably do the trick for the volume-up-disables-silent-mode problem.

Thanks. Installed it; so far, so good.

One other thing--anyone have any info on whether the Exhilarate will get a Jelly Bean update?

I was kinda disappointed when I saw that it's gingerbread. Then again, I don't know that much about android. I looked the phone up on the browser of the floor model for review and saw something that said it would never get higher than GB. I also didn't realize that no one would be getting this phone or making things for it. I'm glad I bought a case in store even though I thought I was paying too much.

So I think there are only a handful of us that bought this phone.

I bought this phone about a week after it came out. It's actually a really good phone. If you are looking to root it, you'll have to check the XDA site.

I've had this phone for about 5 weeks now and I agree it's a great little device. It's the perfect size with decent performance but since I've upgraded to ICS I've had a few issues. I wish Android Central would add a dedicated forum for this device so people have a place to go to discuss it.

I own one. My mom got me one for my birthday, early though. It comes with Android 2.3.3 as I remember. Though an upgrade to Android 4.0.3ish exists, I rooted mine along with the upgrade. It's more stable once you upgrade because when I got the phone, Android's System process kept on crashing for no apparent reason. That's why Android 2.3.3 is NOT stable. Rooting your phone allows Super User permissions such as Overclocking/Underclocking the processor to speed it up for performance or to slow it down for power saving.

My phone is extremely durable. I have dropped mine on its face a couple times and it stood its durability. I recently got a case for mine just incase and its harder than heck to the case off. Although my phone crashed a couple of times, it's overall good. There's always a reset button on this phone. All you do is hold down the power/unlock/lock button on the right side until it vibribates indicating reboot. It only takes 30-60 max seconds to boot.
