Looking for a good Android MP3 player
I've been in the market for a new MP3 player for quite some time and haven't found anything I like yet. I've been looking for something powered by Android (Apple can go to hell) that is both pocket-able and has a large amount of storage space (60GB+). I've looked at many of the Archos players, but none of them seem to fit the bill. The Archos 70 is too big (I don't want a tablet) and as far as I know, the 250GB models haven't shipped yet). The Archos 42 would be ideal in every way except for the fact that it lacks storage space. The Archos 5 is outdated both in software and hardware (and, having experience with Archos in the past, they will likely discontinue it very soon). Not to mention, my old Archos player wasn't exactly the most reliable thing in the world.
So other than Archos, I don't see many other Android MP3 players. That in itself surprises me because Apple has been successful because of the combination of the iTouch and iPhone. If they didn't have both on the market, I can guarantee that the iPhone wouldn't be nearly as successful. So why other companies are just sticking to phones is beyond me.
Quite frankly, I cannot afford the extra $30 a month for a data plan nor do I need to be connected to the internet 24/7 (Wifi is plentiful in my area). I want an Android device because I want something that does a little more than play music an videos. Even if I got an unlocked Android phone and used it without a dataplan, I have yet to find one with more than 16GB of storage.
