    I have seen that. I should have been more clear in my question. I'm really looking for the best way to handle the ATT conversation. For example, do I just waltz in and say, "hey, go ahead and throw a second number on to my account!"

    Best way to what? You need to be more specific. Your account will be closed if you only have one line. Refer to the provided link:
    Your mobile phone service plan will be terminated when you port your number to Google Voice and your carrier may charge you an early termination fee.
