Optimus one not connecting to laptop wifi hotspot

I have created a adhoc hotspot on my Laptop running Windows 7. I have also enabled internet sharing. However, my optimus one phone cannot detect this hotspot even after scanning. My other laptop can detect this adhoc hotspot and can also connect and access internet.
How can I get the optimus to connect to this adhoc wifi hotspot and connect to internet? Please help

Unfortunately, Android will not connect to an Ad Hoc network. At least the stock versions of Android.

Some of the custom Roms might give you this option, but it means you'll have to root, and of course technically it voids the warranty.

I'm using CM7, and it sees my ad hoc, but still won't connect to it. Keeps disconnecting.
