I'm bummed with my Galaxy S II

What a lousy OS feature to make you do a long drag of the green icon to answer calls. All I want/need is to quickly hit a button or an icon... BANG! The phone is already too big for my hands which I'm willing to try and get used to but this drag feature might be a deal breaker... knowing good and well it will haunt me for a long time having just missed an important call because my thumb couldn't slide the icon smoothly, in time. Kinda sux but what's the point of adding a the drag feature... does it serve a purpose adding the degree of difficulty? Can it be changed?

I didn't care for it either (although I never had trouble dragging it). I believe it's there to avoid "pocket answering" that a button would introduce. At least that's my guess.

There are some replacements in the market. I'm using BIG! Caller ID at the moment, which works ok but has a couple of drawbacks: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wroclawstudio.screencaller&feature=search_result

Check Settings/call settings, and see if you have an option to "answer with button/trackball". Some devices all you to do this,

there's a setting that says "accept inoming calls by pressing the home key" in Settings/call settings

That should work better for you than the slider.
