New user needs help

I am new to the Android OS having been a Windows user since Windows 2, just bought a Cambridge Sciences G7 tablet running Android 2.3 (3 days ago) have learnt basic use but I am having a problem. Went to market and chose a couple of apps selected install, button changed to installed but I can't see the apps anywhere, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
PS tablet has 8Gb internal SD + 16Gb ext SD card.

Were they Widgets? If so, check by long pressing on the home sceen and select widget.

If an app doesn't show in the applications, then it probably didn't create the shortcut for some reason. Check Applications/Manage Applications and see if it's listed. If it is, uninstall and try downloading again. It happens sometimes. Also, try it after rebooting.
