I have an Evo 3D and an iGrip PerfektFit Charging Dock. I've noticed something interesting and odd. This dock has a little microUSB plug on the bottom that charges the phone and, I thought, puts the phone into "dock mode". I put it in the doc, the car dock app (Car Home Ultra, in my case) starts up, and all is good. But lately, the behavior has changed. Now, when I get into the car, the app starts up even before I put the phone in the dock. I always figured there was some circuitry in the dock that introduced it (via USB) to the phone as a car dock and got the ball rolling. That doesn't seem to be the case. Apparently there's some form of contact that doesn't require actual docking-- just proximity.

It's not a big deal, and I wouldn't consider it "broken" per se, but it is odd and unexpected. How are the phone and dock "talking" if not via the USB port? I don't recall having ever set up Bluetooth, and the dock isn't a listed device.

Are you using a Bluetooth connection? The car doc app may actually be launching on a BT Connection rather then the USB. I don't remember any HTC phones having a "dock sensor" a la Motorola and their magnets, but I could be wrong about that. Never used the 3D.
