ive seen alot of old post about tethering.. it says you have to root first?


so i guess rooting is like jailbreaking? or hacking a droid?

also is that the only way i can tether is to root it first? and can i root without using a computer???

someone help..im a total newb and havent had a htc since the mogul lol

Yes, rooting is just like Jailbreak, but for Android. You need to root the phone to enable wireless tethering. Some people have reported wired tether working without rooting the phone by using PDAnet. search for it in the market and give it a try...only downside is that its wired and requires the desktop client to work in conjunction with the app.

@Johnly is probably referring to Tether. You can purchase a Hotspot package through the carrier, which usually starts at around $30/month.
