Hide application photos

Hello! Newish to android. Have been playing with it on my HP touchpad since they released cm7 for it, however just got my first android phone. Anyway it appears certain apps sometimes save photos to memory which then show up in the gallary, Is there a way to stop this? I know my webos phone had the same problem and I hated it, but my windows phone did not have this issue. Is there alternative gallery apps that allow you to better manage your photos (haven't really seen any) or atleast a way to hide app photos. I know of apps that hide private photos like astro and others, however I am not trying to hide private photos, I just want to hide application photos from my gallery (the other apps seem to move the files to a secure folder hidden by gallery, however this would mess up/ hide them from the app that requires them as well)
