Contacts Display by Last Name...

New android user here... I am using HTC Sync to get to my Outlook contacts (right now I prefer to keep them there as I always have for the last 10 years and last 4 with WinMobile).

The sync went fine and even the google sync to a shared calendar + my work calendar is working great. However...

How do I get my contacts to show up as LAST_NAME, FIRST_NAME ?? That is what the "File as" tag is in outlook but I just can't seem to find where it is on the EVO.

(PS, got the wife a moment at the same time, she loves it so far, I used Bluetooth to get her contacts off her old phone, and they were last, first but in one field so she is fine, and a very happy camper right now)

I would like to know this as well. I don't see the option in the People app. Even if it has to be displayed First Last, I would like it to be sorted by last name.

Me too but I don't see it in the options and I've looked everywhere for it!

I had a new name number to add yesterday and when I added the new name I was presented with Last Name and First Name fields and a display as question... After you add the person, you DON'T seem to get those fields back!

Ok, so I figured I would try making the name field in Outlook have the last, first... didn't work. Went back to the phone and if I click on someones name I DO have the choice for display as...

This needs to be a GLOBAL setting! (Might be and I can't find it!!!)

How do you add a person's picture to the contact? Does it have to be a photo on the phone's SD card or is there a way to borrow it from Facebook?

If you link your phone to facebook it should automatically download the photos. Settings > Accounts & Sync

Or you can have pictures on your SD card and assign those to people.

Sorting contacts by last name is a new feature in the next version of android, 2.2 (Froyo). I can't link to stuff apparently, but search "android 2.2 last name sort" and you'll see mentions of it.

The next question is probably, "when will my phone get 2.2?" that's always the question

I had the device -12 hours when the first update came out!! (even though that wasn't really a 1.5 -> 2.1 style update).. Unfortunately, I think we can only go based on past Sprint performance to extrapolate

Haven't decided if I will root or not... (I was always ahead on my WinMo device). Right now the wife is very happy that she can actually use either phone even with the slight difference (got her the Moment, she wants a physical keyboard).

I already had pictures (really I just use icons), but when I linked to facebook I actually do have the choice of which picture to use. It linked most of them automagically. Don't know how much I like it yet.
