what happens if i format sd card through recovery?

will my phone still be operational?

kinda sounds a stupid question, but i never done it before, and want to be sure before i do it...

my sd card is littered with random folders and scattered files...just wanna fresh start

Yes, it will still be operational. The OS resides in the phone's internal storage. When you reboot, the OS will add some stuff to the SD card that it requires to run.

If you have apps moved over to the sd card it may cause crashes with a particular app. Be sure to backup anything important.
