I saved you two times...
My fiance is due for an upgrade - she is graduating from her simple phone to the smart world as comes home to say in a highschoolish tone,
"I think i'm going to get an i phone."
Which immediately caused this reaction to come out of my mouth, "If my grandma asked what kind of phone to get, I would tell HER to get an i phone."
Surpisingly enough she was puzzled and responded, "Why?"
I explained the wifi tether, 4g, ability to change my battery and adjust the settings so my phone could last a looong time.
"Well the guy at Verizon told me if not an i phone I should get a bionic, stratosphere..."
And she couldnt remember the other three. I pose this question for my fiance what could the other two possible options be?
Question two being - what should i recommend her to get? I have a nexus but she sais she doesnt want that?
Any thoughts??? - 04-24-2012, 10:54 PM #2
Re: I saved you two times...
Rezound or Lucid. Lucid is a decent mid range phone, the Rezound is right behind (some say ahead) the Nexus.
That is the newer phones. Their page is down or I would talk to you about the older ones (I have been studying them for my replacement.
I have the Charge, and I love it since I rooted and ROM'd it, but stock is just UGLY and a lot, not me but a lot of people have had issues with it.
The TB still stinks as of 2 updates ago IMHO
The Stratosphere is nice. My wife has it and there is a good rom out there for it. The big draw there is the physical keyboard
I would go with, and did go with, the Rezound. I just got it today so I really cannot tell you much other than it is a higher end phone, decent battery life, good camera, and most importantly, a good dev community...and an active forum here and other places...ICS is on the way too.. - 04-25-2012, 07:53 AM #3
Re: I saved you two times...
This is a tricky subject. Wy wife also has an iPhone, and while that bothers me, I'm more concerned about the aggrivation I would endure if I got her to switch to Android and she wasn't happy with it. Most times that she grabs my Inspire she says, "how do you use this thing", or something like that.
The moral to this story is, if your girl wants an iPhone and you talk her out of it, and she doesn't like Android or has problems with it, it's going to be all your fault. - 04-25-2012, 08:30 AM #4
I say if your girl wants an iPhone let her get an iPhone. At the start/end of the day, she'll want a phone she's comfortable using; no matter how much the thought of it may make you cringe.
I no longer attempt to convince anyone that android is better simply because it's not for everyone. You have your toy, let her have hers.

Re: I saved you two times...
One more thing I wanted to say. If this is her first smartphone, she might be better off with an iPhone. It's like an Android with training wheels.

I was definitely logical in my choice of words. She likes things like the market better on android, she already has an I pod, she loves wifi tether, and doesn't want a dinky screen. So she pretty much talked herself out of it.
What about the Lucid?

Re: I saved you two times...
The Incredible 4G should be out soon. Something to consider since it's based on the One S. Killer camera, Sense 4, ICS, 4G...
Just a thought. Some say that his dormant chips were left that way for YOUR SAFETY... Others say that once "turned on," he can not be turned off... All we know is... He's called The Stig. - 04-25-2012, 08:18 PM #11a.k.a. RyZR from HoFo
