Set up a gmail account, can't get contacts to sync

I set up a gmail account on my moms razr the other day after trying to tell her it was better than yahoo. How do I get the contacts that are already synced into her phone to sync with her gmail account?

In the People app, select menu -> Import/export and export your phone contacts to storage. Then delete all contacts in the People app and Import/export your backup to the Gmail contacts. From then on they will sync.

navigate to your phones contact list,press menu button,there should be an import/export function. export to sdcard. turn off sync in settings then back on. this ahould get gmail to sync the saved contacts list. but depending on phone model,yours could be different.

edit: be sure when in settings to check mark sync contacts and any other items. sometimes it isnt set by default.
