Androids old OS wiped the floor with IOS 6. It seemed like this year was catchup for Apple

iOS stole from the jailbreak community in iOS 5 and iOS 6 stole from Android! Typical Apple.

iOS is getting super boring but it'll still work fine for people. However I don't think the iPhone is gonna break records this year :o Everything about it is just stale now.

I'm curious to see how it's received. Between back-to-back mediocre iOS releases (5 and 6) and the iPhone 4S, and even the new iPad mediocre upgrade, it's been a couple of years since Apple released anything astounding.

Not saying they aren't good products, but everything has been minor upgrades to catch up to OS's that passed them a couple years ago. I'm kindof hoping the love-affair with iDevices is over (especially if iPhone 5 ends up disappointing as well).

I'm not going to count on that though.

Welcome to the iCult mentality. I run itto it every day. It's not worth fighting when someone has already made up their mind without looking at the facts. It's kinda like talking politics, just nod and move on.

It does give me a warm fuzzy though when they are eventually bitten by the Unicorn and can't do something because Steve won't let them.

I asked my roommate why he likes his phone so much, he just crumpled his face, tilted his head, paused for a minute and said "cause its an iPhone. "

...and still uses a paper planner.

    Lol.

Some people drive Fords some drive Chevy.
Some people like the Cardinals others like the cubs.
Some like Android phones other like the iphone.
It's just another personal choice driven by your own likes and needs. I don't begrudge anyone for exercising their own personal preference.

(except for the liking the Cubs thing, that one I'll never understand)

Yeah, unless you own a gnex or a handful of other phones, you're one(or more) versions behind on Android as well. Whats really sad is that the Android OS is so awesome, but nobody can enjoy the SOB till 6-12 months after it comes out. If then. 90% or more of all iphone users will have iOS 6 available to them the day it is released. :-/

It is because of all the many manufacturer customizations to differentiate themselves from the other Android manufactures. Apples model is way better for distribution of new software.

If the iPhone had homescreen widgets, I'd have one.

8 hours since charging, used for 1.5 hours and only down 12% battery. No, not sarcasm.

Battery usage is much better with Apple.

I just hacked my Epic 4G with an ICS ROM and the phone is now amazing.. Prior to that, the phone with unrooted Gingerbread was extremely buggy, even for the most fundamental features... I chalked it up as Android's inherent substandard-ness compared to iOS or Windows... Was on a path to go away from Android when my contract is up in Sep.. However having experienced the raw ICS on my 2-years old phone, I'm willing to give Android another try, and I might even keep using my Epic 4G with ICS...

If I go with a new phone with 4.0 + manufacture customization, I'm not certain what kind of user experience I will get.. Google is doing themselves a huge disservice by letting manufactures integrate crap into their OS..

I liked both OSes, really, though I much prefer Android. I like keeping up on this stuff in general, but from my perspective, it seems like iOS never really changes much, at least not on the surface. Maybe "on the surface" changes are superficial, but to me, I think it would be boring to have everything look and act the exact same way, except with a new minor feature here and there.

iOS 6 looks like they just expanded Siri, and added a few new apps that don't really seem too special. I just don't get why these yearly releases are getting numbered releases when they don't seem like that big of an improvement, yanno? I feel like iOS should be at, like, 4.x, or even 3.x, maybe.

But, I'm not so sure that'll deter the Apple legions. I sort of wish it would, not because I want iOS to "fail" or anything like that, but because I want to see the OS actually evolve and make bigger changes.

Are there any examples of badly integrated ICS with manufacture customization? I think that combination pales in comparison to iOS and WinMo.. If not for custom ROM loading and forced to used a badly customized ICS by the manufature, I would go with iOS or WinMo..
