    Question Help... No WiFi connectivity

I've had this huawei U8652 for almost a month now. The wifi was working fine and then overnight it just quit working. It shows I am connected to my wifi but I have no traffic at all, and I even have a data plan on my phone and can not connect to anything. Does anyone have an idea as to how to fix it? I have factory reset it already, rooted it, and still nothing.... I am getting angry I paid so much for something I'm only able to partially use.

Are you able to connect to another router? Or successfully connect a different phone?

No, I can't connect to anything at all. I've tried connecting to the neighbors router, and still nothing. We don't have any other phones that will do wifi, but my hubby's pc and xbox is on the wifi and it works fine. I have no idea what the problem is.

Well, if it didn't work after a factory reset, and, other devices are connecting to the router wirelessly, then, I'd say it's hardware. If it's only a month old, contact your carrier, or, manufacturer and get it replaced under your warranty.

Are any wifi connections showing in Settings->Wireless & Networks->Wifi Settings?

If not you probably have a hardware failure and the phone has to be replaced. If they're showing, are you sure you put in the right password (if the router is encrypted)?

OP said they are connected, but, not getting any traffic. I assume that means they have a connection, but, they can't do anything that requires data (browser, email, etc.).

And, they said they weren't able to connect to another router and a reset didn't help. From that, I assume it's hardware.

    My 2 cents:

FYI: XBOX has a different WiFi chipset

Since you said "The wifi was working fine and then overnight it just quit working. It shows I am connected to my wifi but I have no traffic at all, and I even have a data plan on my phone and can not connect to anything."

The phone could be defective but I would try this:

    The WiFi Router settings

Cell phones use a cheap generic WiFi cheap set, so they can not use the better settings (except security settings usually)

It is common issue to have the WiFi signal, says "connected" but there is "No connection" if the WiFi settings are advanced.

U have to use the WiFi generic settings ie, 20mhZ, no dual band 2.4 only, etc

Try it, reboot, & try it

U can also just temporarily remove the password to the WiFi to test as well, just remember what ever you change on one u may have to change on the other, ie password just in case cuz its easy to forget

Also did you try a battery pull?

That's nice, but hardware? TCP? We don't know what's connected and what's not working. A hardware connection just means that the radios see each other - it doesn't mean that any computer data is flowing.

And, they said they weren't able to connect to another router and a reset didn't help. From that, I assume it's hardware.
Or the radios are working but the TCP stack failed. You're assuming facts you don't have. I'm asking for those facts. We haven't gotten them yet.

Connected, as in, it says Connected under The Connection. Pretty cut and dry. And, when they said they weren't getting traffic, that would mean anything they are trying to do with that connection isn't working. You want to call any of that an assumption, that's fine, to me, it's pretty clear those are all the facts that were presented and are necessary.

If a factory reset didn't clear up this issue, it's time to call your carrier because that is hardware. If it's not hardware, it's still time to call your carrier. You want to try and make more of this than it probably is, you can work with the OP more. My suggestion to them is that it's hardware and it's time to contact your carrier and not waste any more of your own time.

Pretty anything but. There are a few levels that have to "connect" - "Connected" doesn't tell you how far "connected" you are.
And, when they said they weren't getting traffic, that would mean anything they are trying to do with that connection isn't working.
How about connecting to the router itself? (That's a different level than connecting to the internet.)

If a factory reset didn't clear up this issue
"my hubby's pc and xbox is on the wifi and it works fine." says that there's nothing wrong with the router or the connection from the router to the ISP to the internet.

Yes, but not for that reason. If their tech support is good (not just some kid reading from a list), they can figure out what the problem is.

It's more than your limited experience thinks it is.

Not if other devices can get internet connectivity from the same router at the same time (which she told us they can).

I'm a DB2 DBA and have been programming since I was 10 (19 years). I have more than limited experience with IT, so, I don't appreciate your patronizing comments. I'm done with the issue. I think it is what it is. If you don't and want to continue to work on it, that's your call, and, that's between you and the OP. However, it doesn't seem like the OP is looking at this thread anyway, so, this is probably moot anyway.

OP perhaps got scared away? I know I had this issue on my first (cheap) Android phone but not as bad. It would show a wifi connection but the browser or YouTube or any other app needing internet access would not work - or more specifically not connect via internet. Other devices worked with my wifi. I downloaded an app (wifi fixer I think) and it helped - basically turned off wifi and turned back on. However, if cellular data also is not working, then I have to agree it sounds like a phone issue and perhaps it's time to return it?

Haha. My guess is they probably found a solution but did not come back to post it. But thanks for sharing your similar experience.
