Google Play Store Customer Service
Kind of surprised at Google Play customer service today.
I tried to buy Mass Effect: Infiltrator, GTA 3 and Draw Something a few weeks ago when they were on sale for 99 cents each but couldn't complete the transactions because of a glitch with Google Wallet. So I've been in contact with customer service to clear up the glitch and now everything works well. I reach out to customer service again asking them to let me get those three games at the sale prices now that everything works correctly, pointing out that my account shows the attempted purchases, and they say they can't give me the promotional pricing anymore.
Fine, I get that, so I offer that they can just credit me back $12 since that's how much more I would have to pay to get the games at full price now. Their reply:
"Thanks for getting back to me, and your patronage.
I wish this was something I was able to provide you with, as you certainly
are deserving. Unfortunately, it is not something Google Play has the
power to do at this time."
BS they don't have the power. It's as simple as clicking a few buttons and sending me a $12 Google Play credit. They just don't want to. I'd be less upset if they just came out and said exactly that. I've asked to speak to a supervisor so we'll see how that goes.
I've preordered a Nexus 7 tablet and I'm seriously considering cancelling the preorder if this is the kind of crap customer service I'm going to get. Or maybe I'll just keep the tablet and take as much of my business as I can over to the Amazon Appstore.
Has anyone else had a similar dealing with Google Play customer service? Hoping someone has had a similar dealing and figured out how to get them to actually provide good customer service. - 07-01-2012, 07:05 PM #2
Re: Google Play Store Customer Service
You sound very entitled. It's not Google Play's fault you had a tech issue with your payment. I do tech support for an iPad app. When we say we can't do something, we simply can't. Period. You don't know how Google Play works or what their CS agents are allowed to do and not do, so to assume they are lying to you and whatever other nasty assumptions you've made is arrogant and rude.

Re: Google Play Store Customer Service
I only sound entitled because I expect something resembling good customer service. If something on the seller's side prevents me from getting a deal then I should get a rain check, its that simple. It just seems out of the realm of possibility that Google Play can't issue a credit to allow me to do what I would have done if the site had worked properly.
By the way, calling me arrogant and rude is rude and judgmental on your end.
