Not happy with One X, but everything else is crap?
I've had my One X for 3 weeks now and I am seriously trying to find an alternative!
I am growing more and more dislike towards it as opposed to getting used to it. I hate the size, it is just too big for me. I can't type on it landscape hardly at all. I have horrible typos that the auocorrect just won't catch, so I find myself retyping and then I just gave up and now I only ever use it portrait. I can type 2 handed portrait style well, but a little cramped
So size really is an issue here.
On top of that my specific one has quite a few software bugs and honestly it isn't any faster than my atrix was for me.
What I do love is the speaker phone, though at times it is too awesome and the person on call gets horrible feedback. And I love love love the camera and the front camera so much!
Is there any hope that anything else would work or am I stuck with this or going back to my atrix? - 06-29-2012, 10:10 PM #2
Are you using the stock key board? Have you tried the swype technique, it's really easy to use. You could download another keyboard app, which might work. There are many just to name a few ,I like FlexT9 or others prefer swift key. These are just a few suggestions.

You mentioned that you were getting tired of having to spell everything constantly. So I mentioned the swype keyboards as they offer many more spelling selections.

Yeah you should really try some alternative keyboards. I tried a few before settling on Swype. You have to give each one a few days though. Like Swiftkey learns the more you use it and gets better over time, so giving it 15 minutes isn't fair to the app.

Re: Not happy with One X, but everything else is crap?
oh this definitely fixes my layout complaints which I figured a different keyboard would. Especially since I can make the keys large.
I need to see if anyone else has the issues with some of the software that I have. Like it doesn't rotate like it should or when it should. Stays in portrait while I flail like an ***** trying to get it to change (not literal flailing) - 06-30-2012, 12:27 PM #11
Re: Not happy with One X, but everything else is crap?
I have the One X predecessor, Amaze 4G, also a prince with a few frog warts left. Amaze owners are struggling with a few faults, but some of its attractions make it a keeper.
I agree with others, Swiftkey X or 3 is superb, you can adjust the key sizes, you can customize the already superb predictions, but have to type with it for a few days/weeks for it to learn your style. (You can help by having it "learn" from your Gmail, Twitter, Facebook.)
As to the phone's size, we can't change that. These huge screens are appealing for watching video, crisp views looking at web sites that aren't optimized for mobile. If you're still in your buyer's remorse period, you might look at the smaller One V with fewer bells & whistles. ICS and Sense 4 is pared down for the slightly slower processor, resulting I suspect in better battery life and possible even zippier user experience.Sent by accident, not using the Android Central app
Nexus 4 (Mako), Amaze 4G on T-Mobile. Nexus 7 16GB. Google Chromebook (2012 Samsung 16gb). Next stop, a Google flush toilet.
Did I solve your problem? Hit the Thanks button. Was I just a nuisance? Sorry, can't bat .400 every day. - 06-30-2012, 12:32 PM #12

Re: Not happy with One X, but everything else is crap?
I can only get things currently available from ATT directly. So I am stuck to a very few options. This is actually my work phone, so yay for not having to pay for things, but even free I am not that happy with it. I really would like something smaller.
