Hello, I will be purchasing a Galaxy S3 this weekend and would like to know if this is possible with the Mobile WiFi Hotspot.

I will be travelling to the Carribean shortly, and the hotel I am staying at charged for WiFi PER DEVICE. I will also be bringing my laptop with me, and I had in mind to do the following.

Pay for the WiFi and setup the SG3 on it.
Use the Mobile Hotspot on the SG3 to allow the laptop to piggyback on it.
This would remove the need to pay for WiFi on the laptop.

On the SG3, however, I will have the carrier data connection turned off to prevent roaming charges.

Can the SG3 do what I am planning? Failing that, is there a 3rd party device on Google Play that can do what I'm thinking?

Thank You!

I don't think it's going to work like that. The Hotspot feature uses the Cellular data channel for internet and the Wifi for connecting clients. If you connect the SGIII to the Wifi for internet then you won't be able to hotspot. As you already know Roaming international data is a killer so you don't want to go that route.

Sorry.
