Locked Screen/Spoilt Screen Dilemma!!

Hi,
I am currently facing a problem on my phone which I believe to be rather unique.
Just today morning half of my Android phone's screen malfunctioned, and I am currently unable to utilise the top half of my screen at all. However, the bottom half of the screen is fully functional.
I am about to send it for repairs but before I do that, I would like to know if it is possible to recover some important information on my phone.
The multiple problems lie in that:
My unlock pattern consists of the top third of the dots, and because of the screen malfunction I am unable to unlock my phone
I am able to access the Account Unlock screen, but I need to tap the top half of the screen to enter my username and password.
It is in my last ditch attempt that I have hooked up my phone to the computer, which has Samsung Kies installed.
Is there any way possible that I can use my computer to unlock my phone and remove my password without resetting it into factory defaults and losing all my data?
