Can anyone suggest me a podcast app and can you answer my question of why Android doesn't have an Podcast app like Apple and BlackBerry do?
I just got a new S III and am completely new to Android. My history with phones has been primarily BlackBerry, I have been a fan for a while. The last phone I was using before the switch was iPhone and I am definitely happy with the Android. The only thing I've hated since coming to Android is the lack of a podcast app or just the lack of simplicity with podcasts.
If i'm wrong please set me straight, I'm just looking to use my S III with podcast while I'm at my part time job because podcasts are the only thing that gets me through it lol...

Pocket Casts got lots of following but personally i use Doubletwist pro since i just love the UI so much. One of the more interesting choice would be Stitcher since it allows you to listen to podcasts without downloading them. So it's a streaming service. One thing to note here is podcast availability though; some of the podcast i listened to is not available in both doubletwist and stitcher.
And about your second question about why Android doesn't have a podcast app that competes with Apple & Blackberry, i think it's related to the fact that the term podcast itself is so "Apple-like". I only started to listened to podcast religiously quite recently so i might be wrong, but if you browse iTunes there's literally millions of podcast about Apple but not so much about Android.
Hope that helps in some ways.

I like Doggcatcher better then the ios app instacast(When I was on ios). Its a paid app with a bit of a learning curve.
It will download automatically over wifi(Or you can force a 3G D/L). It checks your feeds at an interval of time you select. You can easily add all your favorites. I found if I just stay in the "Feeds" Tab, I can pretty much do everything I need, didn't need the other tabs much. Once I figured that out and where the download que was I was good. This one is perfect just the way it is!

The reason Android doesn't have <insert your need here> app already installed?
It's pretty much open, which means that developers can write any apps they want, and the user has a greater choice than with Apple. As you can see from this thread, including any 1 podcast app wouldn't satisfy everyone.
Apple thinks it knows you better than you do, Android lets you be the you that you decide to be.
