Wiped my Dalvik cache, now my apps have disappeared... rebuild?

I have CM 7.0.3 running on my MyTouch 3G Slide. (I can't run anything newer because the $#&% symbol key is disabled in the newer builds.

) I used data2ext to move dalvik cache to the sdcard.

[This part is important. I think.] CM7 has a history of wifi issues on the MT3G slide -- there's something weird with the tiwlan.ini, so the solution is to revert to the 6.x version. I did that, it fixed it, and then yesterday it went back to its old behavior. I went into the phone terminal and recopied the 7.x tiwlan to /etc/wifi to see if that would fix it. (E.g., this meant remounting /system to rw.) No go, so I copied back 6.x's tiwlan.ini . Still nothing.

Finally I went into recovery and deleted the cache and Dalvik cache in hopes it might force it to start working again. Good news is that the wifi seems to be working. The bad news is that all my apps have disappeared from the drawer. They're still on the device (visible in Manage Applications). I'm thinking the cache may have not rebuilt itself and therefore can't load any of the apps...?

I have access to CWM, but I can't get anything else to install on the device (e.g., TiBu). When I used adb to try and reinstall Titanium, it gave me this error: "Failue: [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]."

I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

why would you even go to CM6 for fixing an issue in Cm7.0.3?? Cm7.2 released a months ago and have fixed lot of issues.. CM9 stable is being build for many devices today... Install that and you should see a lot of improvements. You are using a software that was released in mid 2011..
get CM9...

Still1 -- CM9 is not stable for my device. As I mentioned above, I can't put anything above 7.0.3 on as it disables the SYM key. (Known issue, there's a bug report but it's not high priority by any means.)

And using CM6 tiwlan.ini is a fix for the wifi, as I mentioned above:

Ok try to reinstall 7.0.3.. but before your install wipe Dalvik and cache
but DONOT wipe Dalvik and cache after flashing CM7.0.3..
then place your tiwlan file again. reboot... when you reboot it should build your app automatically.
