broken screen

i broken the screen on my phone the other day, it turns on rings etc but because the screen is completely broken i cant see any thing or more importantly unlock its pattern. is there any way the phone can be unlocked to i can back up the data before the insurance company replace it?

you can change the unlock pattern using adb command but USB debugging should be enabled in the developer option.Change it to something you can use in the screen.

I assume you wouldn't have enabled it. if not,

You can take a nadroid backup of the phone, then move the backup to your computer and factory reset the phone.

but the screen is compleletly smashed. and the phone needs to be unlocked before it will let me take any data off the device???????

dont have to unlock to take nandroid backup. its done in recovery.

how can i do that without being able to see the screen though?
