Does anybody know if I can use the Navigation on my phone to go from one point on water to another or will the phone route me to the nearest road to get to my end point?

There's no marine navigation in Google maps that I know of (so it will try to use roads).

But there are several marine navigation apps available in the Play Store.

I use the Navionics which I downloaded from the play store on the Great Lakes and it's just as good as any marine chart plotter I've used. They have different versions for different areas of the world.
