Stuck GPS signal

Second time in two days the GPS active icon in the status bar was stuck on. Today it was on for over three hours before I just powered off the phone to get rid of it. I looked in running services but couldn't tell if anything was wrong.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you not use the Power Control widget to turn the GPS off completely?

Yeah I've had this happen twice. First time I restarted the phone, second time I turned GPS off.

Are you running any apps that might use the GPS a lot? What phone do you have, by the way?

If it's just starting the GPS on its own when you boot the phone, something might be wrong.

(Oh right, this is a general forum, I got here via "new thread" search.)

EVO w/2.1 -- it happened after quitting Google Maps ... the GPS icon will not quit even after the app is definitely exited properly. Doesn't happen usually, only a couple times so far.
