Wallpaper on Nexus 7

I'm sure much of what I don't understand will become apparent once I have the device in hand, but . . .

The official Nexus Help site says:

Touch a wallpaper source:

Gallery. Choose from pictures that you've synced with your tablet.
. . .

Now suppose I have a wallpaper source: my usual screen background is a brick wall, much like the background on my home page, usually with some distinctive image in the middle (I'm thinking of doing one with a picture of Brent Spiner as Cmdr. Data, since this is an Android device). Now it's easy enough for me to save it as a PNG, or a JPEG, or any other format that GIMP can save to, and to either attach it to an email message, or stick it on my web site, or on Flickr, but how would I then get it onto the tablet, where the wallpaper setting can find it?

Just download the image from gmail and you will find that image in gallery to be set as background.

And what about dimensions? And what happens when the device is rotated to a landscape orientation?

Wow. It doesn't get more intuitive than that. And now, my Nexus 7 (an Android device) sports my traditional brick wall background, with a picture of Brent Spiner as Cmdr. Data (the world's most famous fictional android) in the middle of it.
