post rootin.. [b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b][b] [/b]ed my phone up a'lil' bit, BUT it works (calls, text, ...) AND it is still in root

This is the details of my phone: It is all messed up from me playing around and try all the fun stuff. It still works for call/texts/surfing but it has gotten to cranked and I would like to put back a clean and simple ROM + kernel. If anyone can offer me what choice of ROM you think i would like and step by step help and directions so I can get it working well enough for me to give to my 10yo nephew. Cheers guys/girls
