Making my tablet zoom in (Accessibility question)

I'm trying to help out a lady who is partially sighted and who has just bought a new 10" tablet. I am wondering if there is a way I can change the resolution of the device so that everything is larger. I have downloaded and installed several accessibility applications for her, but they're not giving me a solution that fits what she needs. The only things she will be using the tablet for are Facebook, Skype, and possibly some online shopping, so if anyone knows even a quick-fix that only affects these apps that would be helpful too.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
*Also, I have adjusted the in-app settings for Facebook, and the browser and everything just looks jumbled together in different ways depending on the orientation of the device (I've tried loads of combinations).*

Have you tried Android's built-in Accessibility settings? Go to Settings/System/Accessibility, and play around with those options.
