I see apps that have a square that looks like it can be scanned so that the app goes to the phone. Am I correct and how do I do this? Thanks, and sorry, I am very new.

I installed an app called Barcode Scanner by ZXing Team. It was free and it worked when I scanned in an app barcode from the androidcentral.com news page.
