They have a tablet and phone version . You have to make 2 purchases one for phone and another for tablet.
remember, the phone version will work in the tablet but you wont get tablet optimized keyboard and its vice versa.
These scenarios are very few in Android. most apps are single app which works different in phone and tablet(tablet optimized).

What about something like Swiftkey 3? Do they not have a version for tablets and a version for phones? Would I have to buy both?
