Moving from iPhone to Android
Happy New Year everyone!
I think I've finally decided to move from my iPhone 4S to either the Galaxy S3 or the Note 2. What's holding me back is how to back up my Android device with peace of mind. With the iPhone, I just sync with iTunes and I'm good to go for everything, including settings, themes, ringtones, Caller ID photos, etc. I do understand that Gmail saves my contacts and e-mail, and I also use Google Calendar. Is there a program, free or paid, that acts like iTunes and will back up everything so that, if I have to do a factory reset or if I change Android phones, I can restore everything exactly as it was?
The other issue is Caller ID photos. I've read numorous posts about how Gmail saves contact photos, then downscales them back to the phone and they look horrible. I've also seen this in person with various friends' Android phones. With the great high resolution phones currently available, that is just unacceptable. Has the Jelly Bean update fixed this?
All input is appreciated. Thanks! - 01-06-2013, 05:54 PM #2
Re: Moving from iPhone to Android
As of yet, I myself don't have an android, but my understanding from research is that there are many programs to make the sync easier. From what I've read, doubleTwist is the most highly recommended/broadly used by the everyman.

Re: Moving from iPhone to Android
Other than syncing with my Google account...
I use "SOS Online Backup" for all my media & settings-->
I use "SMS Backup+" for my SMS'-->
With those, I'm good to swap devices as often as I like not worrying about losing anything & you can schedule automatic backups which I set for every night.
I think Google should implement this like iCloud, but until then, I'm covered by those Apps.
Since you're moving from iOS, you might miss global Badge Notifications (those little red #'s) which you can achieve on Android too--> [HOW-TO] Guide to Global Badge Notifications
