Default Show # of emails waiting

Running on a Droid 4 with no mods. Email is a POP3 based account.

Are there any apps out there that will show on the email icon that messages are waiting? Right now, all I am getting is the update in the top status/notification bar. If I clear that bar out, I have 0 notification without going into the actual client. BB would show a red * on the icon, and iPhones show a red circle with a number in it on the mail icon. I'm looking for something similar on the droid.

Nova Launcher Prime is the only one I know of.

Corp-Mail might be worth a try. It's actually a separate app for email based on the stock Android email app, so you should still be able to access your POP3 account. It has a widget with an unread counter.

Actually I think I just figured out how to do this with the K9 widget, there is one called K9 Unread that will do exactly this. Thanks for the suggestions.

I believe you actually have to use the K-9 Mail app in order to use the widget. Looks like a good app, lots of 5 star ratings.

Correct, I knew about K9 prior to this run with Android, but not enough to know that it did/didn't do this. I had already downloaded it as a possible solution and was surprised when it didn't do it out of the box. Glad I found the widget for it.
