thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
I'm new to Android (moved from iphone 4 to LG Optimus G pro) and loving it so far.

but a few things I couldn't figure out yet.
1.Is there a way/hack/app/solution to re-program the Volume buttons so I can skip songs? (want this for when i'm jogging)
I was able to do this on Iphone using the Cydia hack "activator". It let me re-program my volume keys to skip songs. or even skip foward 30 secs when I was listing to podcasts.

2.How to create a android directory shortcut on my PC?
Love uninstalling iTunes and how straightfoward moving files in Android are. Wondinger if I can create shortcuts on my PC for each of my "music" "books" "movies" etc folders on the phone.

Again thank you very much for any help.

many of the music apps will have this in their settings. I personally really like Poweramp, but there are others. Poweramp allows me to use the volume buttons to skip tracks, and the paid version also allows me to use the mic button on my headphones to play/pause/skip forward/skip back, depending on how many times I tap the button

I believe DoubleTwist has volume skip, plus (I think) it has the ability to sync with iTunes.

As well if you're rooted, many ROM's have this feature baked in -- if you're not though, don't worry about this.

As far as "shortcuts" I'm not sure exactly what you're wanting here. I have a Galaxy Nexus, so accessing the folders on my phone is as simple as plugging in the USB and clicking on "My Computer" and then "Galaxy Nexus" (It's listed right under my hard drives and DVD Drive). You may or may not have to have LG software installed on your computer to read the files on your device.

thank you for the tip.
I'll definately try DoubleTwist . for some reason, couldn't get poweramp to volume skip...

also, lazy me just wanted shortcuts on my PC Desktop of "movies" music" folders etc which are inside my Android Phone so I wouldn't need to search and click 4-5 times evertime i connected my phone to my PC.

agains thank u

I always wanted to have an app which controls music with volume keys but i could not find any which does it smoothly. So I developed my own :p . My app Frinky Music Controller on GOOGLE PLAY controls music with volume keys and smartly controls music volume. It supports more 200 music players and Spotify. It works on both rooted and non-rooted phones.
Some features of the app are :
Next Song -- press volume UP key single time to play next song.
Previous Song -- use volume DOWN key to play previous song.
Control Volume -- when we want to control music volume , most of the time we press volume key more than once (next time when you adjust volume , feel it) . So the app uses this tendency of users as a function to control music volume i.e press volume key more than once to adjust volume.
Stop song -- Oh! you play music in your class in absence of professor here comes the professor .... turn off the music quickly by UP+UP+DOWN+DOWN key action (it takes less time than muting the volume and unlocking the screen :D .
Sleep Timer : Single sleep timer for all your music apps.
Manually control app's service : well to understand this feature you will have to download the app.
It consumes very less amount of ram.
