New to Nexus 10 and android, but not to tablets.

Just downloaded my first app---vim touch; the whole reason for getting a Nexus 10---but I have no idea where it is. It's nor on the all apps screen. Nor is it in downloads.

Help appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric Weir

Did you install it directly from the Google Play Store, or did you download the .apk package file only?

Sometimes apps are labeled differently on the All Apps drawer compared to in the Play Store, so make sure you look at every app icon to make sure it isn't called something like "Touch" rather than "VIM." Also, make sure that you've looked at all of the drawer screens--you can swipe the screen to the left or right. Sorry if I'm being too elementary, but it's always a little hard to gauge a person's tech savvy on these forums.

If you still can't find it, go to the Google Play Store, tap Menu/My Apps and check your Installed list to confirm that the app is there. If it isn't, maybe there was some glitch the first time and it didn't install properly. Just try installing again if that's the case.

If all else fails, reboot the tablet (power down completely and then power up again)--this often helps in these kinds of situations.

Definitely not in the all app drawer. However another app I just dowloaded---from the store---is there. And both apps show as installed in the Google'Play app.

Do you see VIM Touch under Settings/Apps/Downloaded?

At this point, I suggest you power the device down completely, then power it up again, and see if the reboot fixes things. This is a normal reboot, not a hard reset or factory data reset.

I've done that. Situation the same.

There are two versions of the app. Regular and full runtime. Former installs, shows in all apps drawer and as installed in play. Latter does neither. After downloading the status note in play says "full runtime for installing."

I take there's a further step that needs to be taken after downloading. I have a question in to the app forum ax to what this is and how to do it.
