Hi all, new to the forums and about to get a Galaxy S4 after having only used iPhones for the past 3 years so I'm totally new to Android. I've been looking around and haven't heard many good things about TouchWiz (although I will give it a try and see what I think), so I am thinking that I'll most likely install a new launcher when I get the S4. What I'm wondering is, if I was to install NovaLauncher and use it instead of TouchWiz, would that mean I lose features like Air Gesture, Smart Pause etc. ? Please forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question but like I said, this will be my first time using Android.

Thanks, G.

Not a stupid question at all. Give TW a try. I didn't find using it on my S3 to be an issue, but ended up switching to Nova because of a bug impacting the Lightflow app when used with TW. I wasn't willing to give up LF, so I switched launchers.

Anyway, I suspect at least some of them will still work. The Samsung motion add-ons in the S3, for example, continue to work with Nova. Page Buddy, OTOH, only works with TW. If you decide to get rid of TW, I think you'll have to try them out, one by one, to see what works and what doesn't.

Great, thanks ! I'm sure I'll get to grips with things once I actually get the phone so hopefully all goes well.

There's nothing inherently wrong with TouchWiz, it just doesn't let hobbyists like us play around as much as we would like.

For the average person, its a very competent UI.
