itunes songs won't play through earphones

Hi
I have a Galaxy S3. I download music from iTunes and sync it on my S3 using WMP. The thing is, once the songs are on my phone, they will not play through my earphones but through the speakers instead. It does that only with the songs purchased on iTunes. In my car, iTunes songs play through the car speakers but at a very low volume, even if both the volume in the car and on the phone are at max.
Now what to do?

ah just figured out that the files needed to be converted to a mp3 format. Now it works fine.

For the future, I'd use Kies to sync music. It has that iTunes experience to it, that is, if you like to organize your music with lyrics and albums as well. I rather like it actually, hopefully that helps you as well.
